STAY AWAY!!, October 27, 2010 - By galaxy one (USA) This is the worst oven I have ever seen, I do not know what the engineers where thinking when they built this unit. There is a small metal deflector that runs along the top of the vents above the top door and after 10-12 minutes of the oven coming to temp, the whole area above the door gets so hot, you can burn yourself. Funny thing is, the engineers obviously knew this, because after I got a blister on my finger from touching this metal band, I looked at the manual and under the section "Vents" it actually says that it could burn you!! Worst of all, Maytag was very uncooperative about exchanging the unit. I had always thought Maytag was a good company but I will never purchase another thing from them. They acted as if there was nothing wrong. A service person came to my home from PC Richards where I purchased the oven and he measured the temperature of this metal deflector once the oven reached 360 degrees on the inside. The metal strip on the outside had already reached a temperature of 220 degrees afteronly 12 minutes. PC Richards was great. They gladly offered an exchange and I purchased a GE instead.My recommendation is to stay away, far away, it will burn you and then Maytag will add insult to injury and burn you again.
